Wellhouse Leisure is one of the UK’s premier converters of compact motor campers. Situated near Huddersfield, we offer a range of conversions based on Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Ford vehicles.
Our modern factory consists of a three-bay workshop where the conversions are built, together with a fully equipped mechanical preparation facility and valeting bay. The finished vehicles are displayed for sale in our purpose built showroom.
The business was established by David & Christine Elliott and Carl Firth, who have been involved in the UK camping scene since the early 1990s. They began by importing high quality German Hymer and Westfalia motorhomes, and in 2002, they recognised a demand for quality compact campers and began importing base vans direct from Japan for conversion at our home factory.
In 2006, we formed a technical partnership with Reimo Germany who are one of the largest suppliers of quality motorhome conversion parts in Europe. We now work closely with Reimo in developing their range of equipment for various Japanese based vans.
Our business philosophy is simple. Select only the highest specification base vehicles then fit them with the highest quality conversion components available.
We have now extended our operations to New Zealand, where we have teamed up with Dave and Joy Bishop of Christchurch who have a wealth of experience of the local camping scene.
At Wellhouse Leisure, we have a different approach to anyone else.
As experienced campers, we respect the fact that you will know what you are looking for when planning your holiday - whether it’s a local camping trip or a once-in-a-lifetime holiday visit to New Zealand. We also know that it’s important to you that the vehicle you’re going to be using meets your expectations regarding quality and facilities. If you’re a Kiwi camper, then you can always pop in and inspect our vehicles. However, if you’re sitting at home in the UK, then that would usually be a problem.
At Wellhouse, we overcome problems…
You are welcome to visit our Huddersfield showroom and discuss your holiday requirements with us. You can inspect an identical vehicle and even take a test drive to ensure it’s just right for you.
Going to New Zealand is not like booking a holiday in Spain, so we know about the extra work that is involved in organising your trip. We frequently travel to and from New Zealand and Japan, so we are happy to recommend airlines that we have used and which provide excellent service and value for money.
Once you’ve booked your flight, you can start to plan where you are going to go when you arrive. This is where our New Zealand partners, Dave and Joy Bishop, can help.
Dave is originally from the UK (Midlands) and Joy is a native Kiwi. They have lived in the beautiful city of Christchurch for 26 years and have been involved in camper hire, so they really know their stuff. You can read all the books and guides and watch all the DVD’s but you can’t beat personal experience.

Having arrived here after a long and tiring flight, we want you to relax before you start your dream holiday. To that end, we will pick you up at the airport and drive you to a local motel for the night. Once you’ve had a good night sleep and a nice breakfast, we’ll come and collect you again, introduce you to your camper and get you on your way. No additional charge – we just want to make your trip an enjoyable one from the moment you arrive.
You will find that our holiday package is not the cheapest around - we don’t do ‘low-cost’ or budget’ because we suspect that’s not what you’ll want for a holiday of a lifetime. Instead, we offer high specification, quality vehicles with an attention to detail which will really make a difference to your dream trip.
